Brian Batko is a 36-year-old Firefighter/EMT based in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has been serving with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire since June of 2015.
Before pursuing a career in firefighting, Brian was a successful high school golfer at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. He qualified for the First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in 2004 and 2005 as one of the top juniors in the country. During these tournaments, he had the opportunity to play with legends such as Arnold Palmer, Fuzzy Zoeller, and Gary Player. In 2005, Brian also qualified for the Pinnacle Exception Long Driver World Championships in Laughlin, Nevada.
Brian’s passion for golf led him to study Professional Golf Management at California University of Pennsylvania (now named PENN WEST), where he graduated with several degrees and served as the captain of the golf team. After college, he worked as a PGA Golf Professional for several years at various golf clubs, including Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, Breakers Golf and Resort in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Eagle Sticks in Zanesville, Ohio.
Despite his successful career in golf, Brian’s path took a turn when he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps as a firefighter. Brian’s father retired from a 30-plus-year career as a firefighter, and Brian knew that this was the path he wanted to pursue.
Today, Brian is a proud member of 100FORE22, an organization that helps military and first responders by reliving his true passion for golf while also contributing to the cause. The founder of 100FORE22, Josh, is a dear friend of Brian’s, and he gave Brian the opportunity to combine his love for golf and his dedication to serving others.
